a family affair

woohoo! block tests 2 successfully concluded on 1st july 2005. that day was significant as it marked the end of the 1st half of the year starting january 2005. well, what really ended was just the beginning of a time characterised by endless studying with minimum entertainment included in the package. ( well, whether it is continuous serious studying and preparing for possibly the most important exam in my entire student life depends on my own personal determination...to a very large extent ).

i wouldn't say that my exams were fantastic, but i think i'll be quite satisfied overall this time even if i don't score well. i guess it's the same feeling you get knowing you've tried your best. you reap what you sow. and what you reap depends on what you sow the seeds on...whether you have a good foundation. i think that could be why i'm doing so badly for econs...lack of proper foundation. (anyway, it's quite hard to tell earlier on if i'm doing badly because everyone seems to be failing too)

after our last paper, chem, i went to this restaurant near my college with three of my fellow asean hwachongians - meisheng, jiavoon n alicia. there was a student offer going on at curry wok so our group of 4 was just big enough to be eligible for that offer. everything in that restaurant reads 'teochew'...from the food to the ambience and kitchenware. we shared a few dishes, just like how people eat at home. the sayur londeh was fantastic! it was very rich in santan...yummy! what was best during the dinner we had was the fellowship that we shared. it felt so nice having this kind of 'family dinner', when most of the time you only order individual portions when eating out with friends; not that i'm really against it though.

the following day was spent entirely with my dear friend victor.so who had just arrived from sydney on a stopover before heading back to hk. well, i sure miss having him around and that day was such a good opportunity to catch up with each other. so sad i lost 3-5 at pool to him. jason and wai joined us after lunch and then we went crashing at victor's hotel room. had some donuts from OZ and also played bridge. too bad we couldn't finish off the day by watching initial D because the available showtimes were very late.

Operation Baygon:The Evil Doctor(TED) amd his Bad Ugly Guys(BUGS) had kidnapped the six Good 'n' Nice Dudes(GOONDUS) and stolen the Eric Goh Cup! Last Sunday, the six WhyGee tribes raced against time to free the GOONDUS from the clutches of TED!Each tribe's success, or failure, determined their chances to retrieve the EG Cup from the hands of TED and BUGS today!
that was the announcement on the church bulletin for LWMC Youth Games 2005 last sunday. we created a new YG within Youth Ministry - YG2.5; a merger of YG2 and YG3. good news was that we eventually won the games! after the games, paul brought me an jase to this ramen place near centrepoint orchard. i declare that the ramen i had was the best ever ramen i ate in my life, and the pork that they served was first class as well. the ramen i had was called tamago ramen, and the egg is cooked such that it is still partially soft(half-cooked) on the inside. amazing!

to end off, here are some ideas from two animes i'm currently watching:
we can never beat the geniuses if we are always shackled by common sense - yakitake! japan

do not soften up just because you found one or two ways to victory - bleach
